Wednesday Craft Night.

Or as its known at the moment..Wednesday Wedding Night!
As the wedding is on the 7th of August its really close now and We've been getting on with all the last minute bits and pieces.
Ruby spent a good bit of last night making artificial flower arrangements for the night time marquee.

Evie helped to stick hearts on a huge canvas for guests to leave messages on through out the day

And I drank coffee, made lists and chatted!
I made loads of colourful paper cones to fill with rose petal confetti too but I didn't take a photo of them.
Sorry this is such a short post but I had an amazingly late night and a very early morning so I'm off to beddy byes now.
Nighty night.

Felty Goodness

After I got my Felties book on Friday I was more than a little bit disappointed that my stash of felt was so tiny so I only tried a couple of the cuties in the book.

But look what arrived in this mornings post from the lovely Annie at The Felt Fairy.

What a lovely cheery rainbow of felts just waiting for me to start cutting, decorating and stitching them.
In the meantime though I've really got stuck into making these babies.

Eventually I'll stitch them all together and make a throw for one of my sofa's,I've made 35 so far and I'm estimating I'll need about 20 billion (well ok a few hundred). So it should be finished sometime in about 2025!

Its our last official craft night before Ruby's wedding tonight so no doubt it will a frenzy of last minute projectsand I've got to get up at stupid O'clock to go to Manchester Airport as Mica is flying home overnight, I just can't believe its a whole month since she went!

Yet More Belated Bloggy-Ness

I seem to have had far too much stuff to blog about this week and not enough time to do it in.
So this is yet another catch up post...
On Monday and Friday I recieved lovely parcels in the post, firstly there was this package of yummy fabrics from Dolores over at Deeroo Designsher blog is lovely, you should check it out!!

Anyway I was a winner in her fabric giveaway and I have a sort of patchwork project in mind for the autumn/winter with the fabric I won.
Then look what came for me yesterday....well I say for me,it was for me and Evie really for some crafty fun over the summer holidays.

I've only got a limited supply of felt but I've ordered some so look out for some serious felty fun soon!
Me and Evie went to my Mums yesterday afternoon for a celebratory cup of coffee..
reason for the celebration?

School holidays at long last! Evie and Hermione celebrated by running around the garden, jumping on the trampoline and then arguing!
Evie was intrigued by the fruit salad my Mum was making and after pestering me all day today to let her make one for us she went off shopping for fruit with her Dad.

This was the lovely result, delicious and enough left over for breakfast with some greek yogurt.
Hope you've all had a lovely saturday.

Stylish Blogger Award.

Last Friday I recieved my very first ever blog award from my good friend Lynda and I'm very pleased to accept it!

Now I believe the blog award rules state that I have to tell you all 5 facts about myself...
So here goes.

1. My absolute number one favourite food is marrowfat processed peas (y'know the big fat bright green things), I even like them cold out of the tin.

2. Although I lived abroad as a child I had never been on holiday abroad until 2006 and since then I've so far visited 12 countries.

3. I only ever drink black coffee, water or pink grapefruit barley water.

4. I am a committed conspiracy theorist and tend to believe very little I see on the news until I've spent ages researching it online.

5. I go on a new diet or health kick every few weeks but only ever suceed in gaining weight!

Also I believe I have to pass this award on to some more lovely bloggers!

So here goes...

1. Sue over at Stitching In The Kitchen.

2. Kia over at The Kia Review.

3. Dolores over at Deeroo Designs.

All these ladies are lovely and all have great blogs that I love to read.
I'll be back tomorrow with yet more stuff I'm late blogging about.

What The Internet Means To Me and a Giveaway.

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and I mentioned I'd recieved a parcel from a blog friend of mine and she (my friend) commented on how lucky I was to have such a nice friend ,which of course I am (The bloggy friend in question is This Lovely Lady ).
But it got me to thinking and I realised that the internet is a wonderful place to be...and yet it is portrayed by the media as a evil place populated by only paedophiles and murderers.
Now theres no denying the internet has played its part in helping some of these people commit the most terrible of crimes and it bothers me terribly to think that criminals like this have access to the internet.
But no one ever mentions the good things that happen on the internet...the people that meet and marry, the funds raised for charity, petitions for unjust treatment of political prisoners etc etc
On a more personal level though... I have met some lovely people through my time on the internet both from my gaming experiences and my time as a blogger and in celebration of these great friends I am going to hold a giveaway...

                               Friendship Giveaway.

So the main giveaway prize will be some Gisella Graham lovlies, yankee candles, a little tin filled with buttons and beads , an FQ of the lovely red spotty fabric behind my goodies and a hand crocheted brooch (which I haven't made yet so its not in the picture).
A runner-up will get a little tine filled with buttons and beads, an FQ, a yankee candle and a crocheted brooch.
I'll keep my giveaway open until 9th August as I am going to be so incredibly busy in the next couple of weeks with the run up to my sisters wedding.
To enter become a follower and please leave a comment, I'll draw two names at random on 10th August.
I'd love it also if you would add my giveaway to your sidebar.
One last thing ...this is open to bloggers all over the world!!
Heres to friendship!!

Cheery-Uppy-Ness

I was sat deep in thought this morning pondering the meaning of life over a cup of coffee ...well okay I was trying to make up my mind whether to watcher 'This Morning' or read my new book, when a loud knock at the door brought me out of my reverie.
When the postie handed me a parcel that definitely wasn't the book I've got on order from amazon I was intrigued as to who it was from and what it contained....
Well it was from the lovely Lynda who must have known somehow that a cheer-me-up was much needed today.....

 How cute is this brooch?
I am re-vamping a little jacket of mine and this will look just perfect on the collar.

I think this needs a hot cup of coffee and tonights Emmerdale to accompany it!

How completely pretty is this card...it just sums summer up completely.
So thank you Lynda you cheered me up lots today.
Check back over the weekend folks for my giveaway.

Make Love Not Warcraft

Okay here goes..(deep breath) My name is Emma and I am a geek!
As I mentioned in my previous post I was going to away for a weekend in a place called Sixpenny Handley in Dorset...what I didn't mention was why I was going there...

So everyone knows I love to crochet and I try out lots of other crafty stuff too, I'm not brilliant at it but I love it and to me thats what counts most of all.
Also I love my time here on my blog writing new posts and catching up on what all the other bloggers I've got to know have been up to.

But and here it is my dark secret revealed at last...I am a geeky gamer who plays 'World of Warcraft' to the extent that that last weekend a group of 15 of us met up in two cottages we had rented for the weekend and just generally partied, chatted and had lots of laughs together.

The weather was beautiful so we spent the whole time sat outdoors and there was no (or at least very little)  chat about 'epic weapons' or 'gear scores' or anything else WoW related.

I learnt a couple of great new card games to teach my family and I came home feeling that I'd made a whole new group of real life friends not just the in-game variety that they were before.

Craft Night, Tribute Night and a Very Pretty Sunset.

Wednesday night was our regular craft night happening for the first time in a couple as We've all been busy doing various other things recently.
So this week it was a huge wedding planning meeting as Ruby's wedding is now less than a month away and theres still lots to do.
Her dress is looking good and her headress is gorgeous but thats all I can say!

Sometime about 9.30pm that same night Ruby's fiancee Daz called us outside to see the sunset...the sky was absolutely spectacular, shades of blue and lilac then deep pink and red!

We missed Mica at craft night but she's having loads of fun in the USA so I'm guessing she hasn't missed us one bit, she did mention on the phone that she'd bought me some 'peaches and creme' yarn..YAY!!
But my oldest daughter Kia is home for the summer now so she is joining us on Wednesday nights...this week she tried her hand at embroidery for the very first time!

Tonight We've been to see a 'Neil Diamond' tribute act called 'Neil Diamondo' who was pretty rubbish to be honest he only performed 4 songs!
But the 80's tribute band who played afterwards were brilliant...I even got up to dance along to some old faves (actually thats a complete lie, one of the songs I danced to was Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up' which I didn't like back when and I still don't like much).
It was all in aid of Cystic Fibrosis an illness which until tonight I really didn't know very much about, I really hope the event raised lots of money for the continued research into this condition as I can't even begin to imagine how terrible it must be to live with or to live with a child suffering from it.
Anyways I'm going away for the weekend to a place called 'Sixpenny Handley' which I believe is where Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset meet...So hope everyone has a lovely weekend and I'll catch up on Monday.

Some Stuff I've Meant to Blog About For Days Now...But Just Never Got Around To It...

So I decided last week that I wanted to start work on another blanket or in fact a throw for one of my living room settees, but this time I wanted it to be made of loads of little hexagons..."aha good idea!" I hear you say..
But the catch was...I had no idea at all how to even begin to crochet a hexagon I mean to be honest I needed to think to remember that hexagons were the shapes with 6 sides!!
So I ploughed through my vast collection of unused crochet books in search of patterns

But nothing was quite right...I just couldn't get them to lie flat GRRRRRRR

Then I remembered I'd seen on pattern on Lucy's Blog and after hurrying to jot it down on loads of tiny post-it notes because my printer is out of ink and I couldn't find my notebook!
It worked....YAY!!!!

So far I'm only 5 hexagons in but I'm loving them lots and lots already.

Anyways onto other things now and these three lovely bloggers were the first to comment on my 'Pay It Forward' post so if you can all let me have your Names and addresses I'll get your parcels in the post soon...I'm aiming for september rather than August to get this completed as I know August will be a hugely busy month for me.

 Emma from Daffodils and Dandelions.
 Maureen from Twig and Toadstool
Jacqueline from So Cute It Hurts

All these blogs are lovely and well worth checking out if you haven't already done so.

Pay It Forward.

I have decided to take part in the 'Pay It Forward' thingy that seems to be doing the rounds of bloggyville at the mo...I've seen the idea on quite a few blogs now and I think it is a lovely lovely idea!

The idea is that random acts of kindness are given without expecting anything in return. Just passing on the kindness and hoping that your recipients will do the same, forming a never ending chain of kindness.

I promise to send a gift to the first three friends who comment on this post requesting to join in and promising to pay it forward to three other people etc etc..
I don't know yet what my gifts will be but I promise to send them within the next 365 days. What you have to do in return is promise to Pay It Forward by making the same announcement and promise on your blog.
