What The Internet Means To Me and a Giveaway.

I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and I mentioned I'd recieved a parcel from a blog friend of mine and she (my friend) commented on how lucky I was to have such a nice friend ,which of course I am (The bloggy friend in question is This Lovely Lady ).
But it got me to thinking and I realised that the internet is a wonderful place to be...and yet it is portrayed by the media as a evil place populated by only paedophiles and murderers.
Now theres no denying the internet has played its part in helping some of these people commit the most terrible of crimes and it bothers me terribly to think that criminals like this have access to the internet.
But no one ever mentions the good things that happen on the internet...the people that meet and marry, the funds raised for charity, petitions for unjust treatment of political prisoners etc etc
On a more personal level though... I have met some lovely people through my time on the internet both from my gaming experiences and my time as a blogger and in celebration of these great friends I am going to hold a giveaway...

                               Friendship Giveaway.

So the main giveaway prize will be some Gisella Graham lovlies, yankee candles, a little tin filled with buttons and beads , an FQ of the lovely red spotty fabric behind my goodies and a hand crocheted brooch (which I haven't made yet so its not in the picture).
A runner-up will get a little tine filled with buttons and beads, an FQ, a yankee candle and a crocheted brooch.
I'll keep my giveaway open until 9th August as I am going to be so incredibly busy in the next couple of weeks with the run up to my sisters wedding.
To enter become a follower and please leave a comment, I'll draw two names at random on 10th August.
I'd love it also if you would add my giveaway to your sidebar.
One last thing ...this is open to bloggers all over the world!!
Heres to friendship!!
Em xx

What lovely words. You are absolutely right. We (media, public, organisations with views) all focus on the bad stuff and forget that it reaches the news because it is remarkable rather than the norm. Great to celebrate the good side of the internet.

I'd love to enter your giveaway and I'll spread the news via my sidebar.

What a lovely giveaway :) The internet, when used as a force for good, can be such a lovely place! It makes it so much easier to meet people who understand where you're coming from and what you're interested in!

Good call lady! I am constantly amazed at how kind and thoughtful people are and I have to say that through the recent break-up with my boyfriend you lot have been far more supportive than my 'real life' friends have at times!

Hope the wedding preparations are going well and aren't too stressful for you!!

What a lovely post - I have made some wonderful friends here on the internet and living in a small village hundreds of miles away from all my old pals I'd be lost without you all.

I agree about the internet and the positive side. Thanks to a certain friends reuniting site I 'met up' again with my very first serious boyfriend, the first true love of my life. He has an unusual surname so when I looked and found it, I knew it had to be him. Similarly I have an unusual Christian name, so when he saw an email with that name on it,he knew it was me. Lots of water under the bridge, lots of good and bad things happened to both of us in the past forty years, but amazingly, wonderfully, it is almost as if we have never been apart. We still love each other, but these days, both being very happily married, the love is different, but it makes the friendship special, and we both know we are back in each others' lives for good... and that is such a special feeling.
I found you via another blog by the way, thought the name was interesting to say the least, so had a nose. Nice blog, thanks for inviting us all in.
